Recently, I’ve been following a simple rule that is helping me crush procrastination and making it easier for me to stick to good habits at the same time. I want to share it with you today so that you can try it out and see how it works in your life. Here is what you need to know.
1.Break your work into little steps.
Part of the reason why we procrastinate is because subconsciously, we find the work too overwhelming for us.It’s hard to get stuff done when you don’t know what to get done. Have a task list with you to make sure that you have the right things to do at the right time.
2.Change your environment.
Different environments have different impact on our productivity. Look at your work desk and your room.
3.Create a detailed timeline with specific deadlines.
Having just deadline for your work is like an invitation to procrastinate. That’s because we get the impression that we have time and keep pushing everything back, until it’s too late.
4.Eliminate your procrastination pit-stops.
If you are procrastinating a little too much, maybe that’s because you make it easy to procrastinate.
5.Hang out with people who inspire you to take action.
Identify the people/friends/colleagues that trigger you – most likely the go-getters and hard workers – and hang out with them more often. There is nothing like having someone on your side when it comes to making your goals a reality. If you start to slip into procrastination, your motivation friend will get you back in your way.
6.Tell others about your goals.
Tell all your friends, colleagues, acquaintances and family about your projects. Now whenever you see them, they are bound to ask you about your status on those projects. A great way is to announce your change publicly and be vocal about it. Hit the social networks, your blog, write letters, whatever it takes to make yourself more accountable to getting work done. It’s a great way to keep yourself accountable to your plans.
7.Seek out someone who has already achieved the outcome.
Seeing living proof that your goals are very well achievable if you take action is one of the best triggers for action.
8.Stop over-complicating things.
Are you waiting for a perfect time to do this? If you keep waiting for one, you are never going to accomplish anything. Perfectionism is one of the biggest reasons for procrastination. If you can’t work on something unless it is perfect then you should find a way to leave earth. Nothing is perfect. Make something real and awesome. That will be great enough.
9.Get a grip and just do it.
You can do all the strategizing, planning and hypothesizing, but if you don’t take action, nothing’s going to happen.
Conclusion
If you want to beat procrastination once and for all, these are the 9 ways to do. Pick the best one for your current situation and then get back to work. All the best
